FRAGSTATS is a spatial pattern analysis program for categorical maps representing the landscape mosaic model of landscape structure. It quantifies the spatial heterogeneity of the landscape as represented in a user-defined categorical map, computing a comprehensive set of landscape metrics for patches, classes and the overall landscape mosaic.
