HostTalk is a self hosted local network messaging system with cross-platform support.

Installaion

get the latest installer or the portable edition from here and install
or run this in your cmd (for windows only)

Requirements

6767 port needs to be open in the local network

Opening on another device

Make sure the devices are connected to the same wifi
Turn off any VPN
Start the server on the desktop
HostTalk will open a site on your default browser on the desktop
Right click on the the site and click invite
Go to the address shown in the invite popup in any device connected to the same network
If other devices say 'page not found' see Troubleshooting

troubleshooting

Do not use localhost or 127.0.0.1 to connect to other devices other than your desktop
Turn off any VPN
Firewalls may block the connection. allow the app
